Bámbula - feat. Victor Emmanuelli

from Música De Las Américas by Miguel Zenón

/

about

In reference to the dance and the drum of the same name, both deeply African in origin. It is believed that - at least in this part of our world - bámbula developed first in Haiti, spreading all over the Americas after the Haitian Revolution. The 3-3-2 pattern that is at the core of its rhythmic structure is virtually omnipresent in music from this part of the world, found in bomba from Puerto Rico, tumba francesa from Cuba, garifuna music from Central America, second line from New Orleans and even modern reggaeton. The track features bomba master Víctor Emmanuelli on barril.
