about

This masterpiece - written by the great Catalino "Tite" Curet and recorded by Ismael Rivera in 1978 - features two recurring themes from Maelo's repertoire: The beauty of Blackness and his affinity for the working class. That version also features a legendary display of brilliance from Maelo, when he adds lyrics to the tres solo by Mario Hernández, thus creating a "Vocal Solo" that would become as well known as the tune itself. That "Vocal Solo" served as the main source of inspiration for our arrangement, and (if you know it) you'll hear it popping out here and there.
